Like many children, I grew up listening to stories and trying not to get in trouble for telling them.... My dad, Ferd Gerrell was a watchmaker, so I spent many an evening at his knee listening to his tales as he was a master raconteur.
Performance storytelling came to me late. Beginning as a story-catcher with Big Bend Hospice in Tallahassee, the receipt of the sacred stories of those passing to the other side brought with it the obligation to share. Twenty-two years later I'm still at it. Now with an MA in storytelling from East Tennessee State University, a cherished history with the Jonesborough Storytellers Guild, I do what I love most - share stories.
